LONDON, England: After EasyJet canceled thousands of flights this summer to limit the disruption caused to passengers from both air crew and ground staff shortages, Peter Bellew, the airline's chief operating officer, announced his resignation.
This week, the UK-based budget airline said Bellew resigned to pursue other opportunities, and confirmed the appointment of David Morgan, who has been with the airline since 2016, including running operations in 2019 as interim chief operating officer, who will report directly to Chief Executive Johan Lundgren.
Thanking Bellew, Lundgren said, "Everyone at easyJet remains absolutely focused on delivering a safe and reliable operation this summer. David has significant experience and deep knowledge of the business and operation and will provide strong leadership for the airline this summer."
Shares in EasyJet, which fell to record lows in March 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, were down 2.5 percent.
