SYDNEY, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Australia's New South Wales Police Force said on Sunday that two men have been charged in connection with the seizure of 120 kg of cocaine, which has an estimated street value of 60 million Australian dollars (about 39 million U.S. dollars).
Following the report of a break and enter at approximately 11:00 p.m. local time (1300 GMT) on Thursday, police officers were called to a shipping container logistics company in Port Botany in Sydney's southeast.
A 27-year-old man was found among the shipping containers and detained by security, while another man reportedly fled.
The 27-year-old was arrested and charged with entering enclosed lands, assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and malicious damage. He appeared in a local court and was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court in June.
As part of ongoing investigations, search warrants were executed at three units in the Balmain and Leichhardt areas, where detectives located crowbars, breaking tools, gloves, bags, and other items relevant to the investigation.
A 19-year-old man was arrested at the unit on Parramatta Road in Leichardt and was taken to Newtown Police Station, where he was charged with the intent to commit an indictable offense, the large, commercial supply of a prohibited drug, and the attempt to possess a commercial quantity of a border restricted drug.
The 19-year-old was also denied bail and is due back in court on July 20.
